Road & Track magazine named the 2024 Acura Integra Type S its Performance Car of the Year.
Acura's Integra Type S has been acknowledged as "Performance Car of the Year" by editors at a Road and Track magazine.
The latest recognition gives Acura Integra the automotive "Triple Crown"-- named as the 2023 North American Car of the Year, awarded 2024 Car and Driver 10 Best Cars award and recognized as 2024 Road & Track Performance Car of the Year.
The Road & Track editorial team highlighted the 2024 Integra’s robust powertrain, responsive handling and seamless manual transmission for drivers who value a more visceral experience.
“We make Acura performance cars for driving enthusiasts and it is an honor to have our Integra Type S recognized with the Road and Track Performance Car of the Year award,” said Emile Korkor, vice president of Acura.
Under the Hood
The 2024 Integra Type S features a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, six-speed transmission, limited slip-differential and innovative dual-axis front suspension.
Performance is 320 hp and 310 Ib-ft of torque, a significant boost from the standard Integra 1.5-liter engine with 200 hp and I92 torque power. It delivers a thrilling acceleration of 60 mph in 5 seconds compared to the base model that revs from 0-60 mph in 7 seconds.
The sporty liftback conveys an aggressive appearance with wide body fenders, a redesigned front fascia featuring a bold mesh grille and triple center exhaust. The chassis sits on a lowered and stiffened suspension with adaptive dampers, offering smooth handling with minimal body rolls around sharp corners at high speeds.
Engineers have also equipped the Type S with a limited-slip differential, which regulates engine power and minimizes torque steer in wet conditions. An enhanced braking system has been complemented with larger Brembo brakes for more decisive stopping power.
Comfort & Convenience
Front seats are outfitted with 12-way power adjustability for height, tilt and thigh extension which allows drivers to find appropriate driving positions for maximum comfort and control.
In addition, the upholstered seats combine synthetic suede and leather to reduce body fatigue and discomfort on long journeys. All passenger seats offer three-level heating convenience for chilly mornings and winter drives.
About Performance Car of the Year
Each year, a diverse selection of new or revised high-performance cars are invited to participate in the PCOTY selection process.
The editorial committee put the vehicles through rigorous testing on both road and track, assessing various aspects like acceleration, handling, braking, technology and driver engagement.
All appraisals culminate in an intense week-long competition at a closed circuit track where finalists go head-to-head for the coveted title.
