Acura’s 2022 MDX Type S comes with a distinctive exterior, superior handling and a plethora of creative conveniences.
While it is the quickest and most powerful Acura SUV ever made, the 2022 MDX Type S doesn’t compromised on comfort or drivability.

Under The Hood
Power for the MDX Type S comes from a turbocharged 3.0 V6 engine created exclusively for Type S models. The engine generates 355 hp and 354 Ib-ft of torque.
Reengineered to complement the additional torque is a more robust and faster 10-speed automatic transmission.
Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive with torque vectoring is standard on all models. The fourth-generation system sends up to 70 percent of the engine’s torque to the rear axle. Either the left or right rear wheel can use 100 percent of torque.
Comfort & Convenience
Inside, the 7-passenger MDX Type S offers soft-touch, Milano massaging leather seats. Driver and passengers can select from nine different massaging options including: Wave, Shiatsu, Rejuvenation and Zen.
Acura’s Precision Cockpit provides an all-digital instrument display, which supplements the award-winning True Touchpad Interface and pairs it with a 12.3-inch ultra-wide HD center display.
The ELS STUDIO 3D Signature Edition premium audio system delivers 1000 watts through 25 speakers, two amplifiers and carbon speaker cones. It includes illuminated speaker grilles keyed to the Acura IconicDrive, customizable ambient lighting.
Safety
Every 2022 MDX models including the new MDX Type S come with an expanded suite of AcuraWatch advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies.
The Type S also delivers advanced levels of collision protection performance with Acura’s proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering and new front passenger airbag technology.
All MDX models garnered a Top Safety Pick + rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and are expected to earn a 5-star Overall Vehicle Score safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
