Latest Version of Acura MDX Blends Comfort, Sports Performance

Acura’s 2022 MDX Type S is rolling into dealerships this month with enhanced handling, additional power and an uncompromising braking system.

The 7-passenger SUV encases a racing-inspired flat-bottom steering wheel embossed with a Type S badge. It also contains soft-touch Milano leather seats in red, ebony or new light orchid.

Each of the colors are supplemented with contrast stitching that spread from the dashboard, doors and sport pedals to the metal-plated glove box handle and lower instrument panel.

Under the hood

At the heart of the 2022 MDX is the turbo V6 engine created exclusively for all Type S models. The 3.0-liter engine was developed by Acura’s most experienced powertrain engineers and generates 355 hp and 354 Ib-ft-of torque. It is the quickest and most powerful Acura ever made.

Reengineered to match the extra torque of the new 24-valve engine is a sturdy 10-speed transmission that shifts quickly.

Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive is in its fourth generation. The system can evenly distribute 100% of torque to both the left or right rear wheel and sending 70% to the back axle.

Comfort and safety

A 12.3 inch Acura Precision Styled Cockpit all-digital instrument display is paired with Acura’s award-winning True Touchpad Interface alongside a 12.3 inch ultra-wide HD center console.

All 2022 MDX models including the latest MDX Type S come with an extensive suite of AcuraWatch™ advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies which include: updated Road Departure Mitigation, Traffic Jam Assist, a Driver Attention Monitor, Pedestrian Sensing and Autonomous Emergency Braking and Traffic Sign Recognition.

The MDX Type S got a TOP SAFETY PICK + rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and is expected to earn another 5-star Overall Vehicle Score safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
