Acura has always put passenger safety first, and the 2022 MDX continues that proud tradition.
The 2022 Acura MDX recently earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in crashworthiness and the Collision Mitigation Braking System.
The 2022 MDX also earned a “GOOD” score for the LED projector headlights for the sports utility vehicle category. The headlight test has been a major challenge for automakers since IIHS introduced tougher standards last year.
The Advanced Compatibility Engineering of the Acura MDX protects occupants in a frontal collision by evenly distributing forceful impact in front of the vehicle. This considerably reduces the amount of impact transferred into the vehicle cabin.
Standard safety and driver-assistive technology features of the MDX include: traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, traffic-jam assist and a driver attention monitor.
An optional Low Speed Braking Control system helps the vehicle sense obstacles ahead and apply brakes automatically when the driver fails to respond. Acura tests of the MDX driving at 37 MPH showed a significant speed reduction to avoid hitting a pedestrian on the side of the road.
To receive the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, a vehicle needs to earn good crashworthiness ratings in all 6 test modes.
The MDX is the third Acura model awarded the IIHS highest rating. The RDX crossover SUV and TLX Sports Sedan earned the TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating early this year.
